For the Crust & Topping
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- ¾ cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2½ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon salt
For the Brown Sugar Cinnamon Filling
- ¾ cup packed light brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2–3 tablespoons milk or heavy cream
For the Glaze
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- 1–2 tablespoons milk
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
1. Preheat & Prep
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving overhang for easy lifting.
2. Make the Crust
- In a large bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Mix in vanilla, then gradually add flour and salt until a soft dough forms.
- Press ⅔ of the dough into the bottom of the prepared pan to form an even layer.
3. Add the Filling
- In a separate bowl, combine brown sugar, cinnamon, and flour.
- Stir in milk until the mixture is spreadable but thick.
- Spread evenly over the crust layer.
4. Top & Bake
- Crumble the remaining dough over the filling.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Let cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then lift out and cool completely on a wire rack.
5. Glaze
- In a small bowl, whisk all glaze ingredients until smooth and pourable.
- Drizzle over cooled bars. Let set 15–20 minutes before slicing.
