Description

This Creamy Fattet Hummus is a comforting Middle Eastern layered dish featuring silky hummus, toasted bread, warm chickpeas, and tangy yogurt sauce topped with nuts and spices.


Ingredients

For the Hummus Layer

  • 2 cups cooked chickpeas (or canned, drained)
  • 3 tbsp tahini
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt to taste

For the Yogurt Sauce

  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • Pinch of salt

For Assembly

  • 2 cups pita bread, toasted or fried pieces
  • 1 cup warm chickpeas
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or melted butter
  • 2 tbsp pine nuts or almonds
  • Paprika or cumin for garnish
  • Fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Hummus

  1. Blend chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, garlic, olive oil, and salt
  2. Process until smooth and creamy
  3. Add a splash of water if needed for texture

Make the Yogurt Sauce

  1. Combine yogurt, garlic, and salt
  2. Mix until smooth
  3. Refrigerate until ready to assemble

 Toast the Bread

  1. Cut pita into bite-size pieces
  2. Toast or fry until golden and crisp
  3. Set aside

 Assemble the Fattet

  1. Spread toasted bread in serving dish
  2. Spoon warm chickpeas over bread
  3. Add hummus layer
  4. Drizzle yogurt sauce
  5. Heat olive oil or butter and toast nuts
  6. Pour nuts and oil on top
  7. Garnish with spices and parsley
