Description

This Crispy Mozzarella Chicken Sandwich is loaded with juicy breaded chicken, melted mozzarella cheese, savory marinara sauce, and toasted sandwich buns.

For the Chicken

  • 2 large chicken breasts (halved horizontally to make 4 cutlets)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • ½ cup vegetable oil (for frying)

For the Sandwich

  • 4 sandwich buns (brioche or burger buns)
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 4 slices mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tbsp butter (for toasting buns)
  • Fresh basil leaves (optional)

Instructions

1️⃣ Prepare the Chicken

  1. Season chicken cutlets with salt and pepper.
  2. Place flour in one bowl, beaten eggs in another, and breadcrumbs mixed with Parmesan, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning in a third bowl.

2️⃣ Bread the Chicken

  1. Coat each chicken piece in flour.
  2. Dip into beaten eggs.
  3. Press into breadcrumb mixture until fully coated.

3️⃣ Fry

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Fry chicken for 4–5 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through.

4️⃣ Add Cheese

  1. Place mozzarella slices on hot chicken.
  2. Cover skillet for 1 minute to melt cheese.

5️⃣ Toast the Buns

Spread butter on buns and toast lightly in a skillet until golden.

6️⃣ Assemble

  1. Spread warm marinara sauce on bottom bun.
  2. Add crispy mozzarella chicken.
  3. Top with basil and the upper bun.
