For the Dessert Base

- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp bourbon
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- Pinch of salt
For the Bourbon Caramel Sauce
- ½ cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 2 tbsp bourbon
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
1. Prep the Brioche Base
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a 9×9-inch or similar-sized baking dish.
- Spread brioche cubes in the dish evenly.
2. Make the Custard
- In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, cream, milk, both sugars, vanilla, bourbon, cinnamon, and salt until smooth.
- Pour the custard evenly over the brioche cubes.
- Press down gently to ensure the bread soaks evenly.
- Let it sit for 20–30 minutes if time allows.
3. Bake
- Bake uncovered for 40–45 minutes, until the custard is set and the top is golden brown.
- Let cool for 10–15 minutes before serving.
4. Make the Bourbon Caramel Sauce
- In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
- Add brown sugar and stir until combined.
- Stir in heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer for 3–5 minutes.
- Remove from heat and stir in bourbon and a pinch of salt.
- Let cool slightly—it will thicken as it cools.
5. Serve
- Spoon warm dessert into serving bowls and drizzle generously with bourbon caramel sauce.
- Optional: Add whipped cream, vanilla ice cream, or candied pecans on top.
