For the Marinade

- 2 tablespoons fresh ginger, grated
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar or honey
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar (or lime juice)

- 1 teaspoon chili flakes (optional, for heat)
- 2 tablespoons green onions, chopped
For the Steak
- 1½ lbs flank steak
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Extra green onions and sesame seeds, for garnish
Instructions
1. Marinate the Steak
- In a bowl or zip-top bag, whisk together all marinade ingredients.
- Add flank steak and coat evenly.
- Seal and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably 4–8 hours.
- Remove from fridge 30 minutes before cooking to bring to room temperature.
2. Grill or Sear
- Preheat grill or skillet to medium-high heat.
- Remove steak from marinade and pat dry (reserve some marinade if you want to cook it down into a sauce).
- Grill or sear for 4–6 minutes per side, depending on thickness and desired doneness.
- Let rest for 5–10 minutes, then slice thinly against the grain.
3. Serve
- Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.
- Serve with rice, stir-fried veggies, or noodle salad.
