Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets (about 6 oz each, skinless or skin-on)
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice (or lime juice)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons melted unsalted butter (optional but adds richness)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, minced (optional)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Lemon slices, for garnish
  • Fresh chopped parsley or cilantro, for garnish

Instructions

1️⃣ Preheat the oven

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

2️⃣ Prepare the sauce

  • In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, lemon juice, minced garlic, melted butter (if using), olive oil, and ginger (if using).

3️⃣ Prepare the salmon

  • Place each salmon fillet on a large piece of aluminum foil.
  • Season the salmon with a pinch of salt and black pepper.
  • Pour the honey garlic sauce evenly over each fillet.
  • Top each fillet with a few lemon slices.

4️⃣ Wrap it up

  • Fold the sides of the foil over each piece of salmon, sealing the packets tightly to prevent leaks.

5️⃣ Bake

  • Arrange the foil packets on a baking sheet and bake for 15–20 minutes, depending on the thickness of your salmon.
  • For a slightly caramelized top, open the foil and broil for an additional 2–3 minutes.

6️⃣ Garnish & serve

  • Carefully open the foil packets — watch out for steam!
  • Sprinkle with fresh parsley or cilantro.
  • Serve immediately with your choice of sides like steamed rice, roasted vegetables, or a crisp salad.

Notes

  • Choose fresh salmon: Wild-caught if possible, for the best flavor.
  • Don’t overcook: Salmon should flake easily but still be moist inside.
  • Marinate for extra flavor: If you have time, marinate the salmon in the sauce for 15–30 minutes before baking.
