  • Optional: pink or red sprinkles

For the Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 23 tbsp milk or cream
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • Optional: pink gel food coloring

Instructions

1. Make the Dough

  1. Mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast; let it rest for 5–10 minutes until it becomes foamy.
  2. In a bowl, combine flour and salt.
  3. Add yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg.
  4. Knead 5–7 minutes until soft and smooth.
  5. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and rise 1 hour or until doubled.

2. Prepare the Filling

  1. Mix brown sugar, granulated sugar, and cinnamon.
  2. Set aside softened butter for spreading.

3. Shape the Sweetheart Rolls

  1. Roll dough into a 14×10-inch rectangle.
  2. Spread butter evenly; sprinkle cinnamon sugar.
  3. Roll both long sides inward until they meet in the center.
  4. Freeze dough 10 minutes for cleaner slicing.
  5. Slice into 12 rolls.
  6. Pinch bottom of each roll to form a heart point; gently shape tops into curves.
  7. Arrange on a greased or lined pan.

4. Second Rise

  • Cover and let rise 20–30 minutes.

5. Bake

  • Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 18–22 minutes, until lightly golden.

6. Glaze

  • Whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla.
  • Add pink coloring if desired.
  • Drizzle over warm rolls.

Notes

  • For an extra decadent treat, add a cream cheese frosting.
