Zesty Shrimp Cocktail Cups are a fresh, bite-sized appetizer featuring tender shrimp tossed in a bold cocktail sauce brightened with lemon juice, zest, and horseradish.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 lemon, halved
  • 1 tsp salt
  • For the Zesty Cocktail Sauce
  • ¾ cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp prepared horseradish (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tsp lemon zest
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tsp hot sauce (optional)
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • For Assembly
  • Small serving cups or shot glasses
  • Fresh parsley or dill, finely chopped
  • Lemon wedges

Instructions

  • 1. Cook the Shrimp
  • Bring a large pot of water to a boil with lemon halves and salt.
  • Add shrimp and cook 2–3 minutes, until pink and opaque.
  • Immediately transfer shrimp to an ice bath to stop cooking.
  • Drain and pat dry.
  • 2. Make the Cocktail Sauce
  • In a bowl, whisk together ketchup, horseradish, lemon juice, lemon zest, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, and black pepper until smooth.
  • 3. Assemble the Cups
  • Spoon cocktail sauce into the bottom of each cup.
  • Arrange shrimp on top or tuck them around the rim.
  • Garnish with fresh herbs.
  • 4. Serve
  • Serve chilled, accompanied by lemon wedges on the side.
