Description

An enticing bowl of Cajun Cream Sauce showcases its vibrant color and creamy texture, perfect for elevating your favorite dishes.

Ingredients

Scale

2 tbsp unsalted butter

1 tbsp olive oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 ½ tsp Cajun seasoning (store-bought or homemade — see below)

¼ tsp smoked paprika (optional, for depth)

Pinch of crushed red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

1 cup heavy cream (or half-and-half for a lighter version)

¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Salt and black pepper to taste

Optional: squeeze of lemon juice or a dash of hot sauce

Instructions

  1. Heat butter and oil in a skillet over medium heat until melted and bubbling.

  2. Add garlic and sauté for 30–60 seconds until fragrant — don’t let it brown.

  3. Stir in Cajun seasoning, paprika, and red pepper flakes. Let the spices toast slightly in the butter for extra flavor (about 30 seconds).

  4. Pour in the cream, stirring constantly. Let simmer for 3–5 minutes until slightly thickened.

  5. Stir in Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth. Taste and adjust with salt, pepper, lemon juice, or hot sauce if desired.

  6. Serve hot over pasta, blackened chicken, shrimp, salmon, or roasted veggies!

Notes

To adjust the spice level, simply increase or omit the cayenne pepper to suit your taste.
For a thicker consistency, allow the sauce to simmer a bit longer, or whisk in a small cornstarch slurry (½ teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water).
While best enjoyed fresh, any leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
