  • 1 package (3 oz) strawberry gelatin
  • 1 package (3 oz) berry blue gelatin
  • 1 cup boiling water (for each gelatin flavor)

For the Topping

  • 1 container (8 oz) whipped topping, thawed
  • Fresh strawberries, sliced
  • Fresh blueberries
  • Red, white, and blue sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

Step 1: Bake the Cake

  1. Prepare and bake the white cake according to package directions in a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Allow the cake to cool for about 15 minutes.

Step 2: Poke the Cake

  1. Using the handle of a wooden spoon, poke holes evenly across the entire cake.
  2. Space the holes about 1 inch apart.

Step 3: Prepare the Gelatin

  1. Dissolve the strawberry gelatin in 1 cup boiling water.
  2. In a separate bowl, dissolve the berry blue gelatin in 1 cup boiling water.

Step 4: Add the Colors

  1. Carefully pour the red gelatin into half of the holes.
  2. Pour the blue gelatin into the remaining holes.
  3. Refrigerate for at least 3 hours or until fully chilled.

Step 5: Add the Topping

  1. Spread the whipped topping evenly over the chilled cake.
  2. Decorate with strawberries, blueberries, and patriotic sprinkles.
