Ingredients

  • 12 ripe avocados
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Juice of 1 lime

  • Optional:
    • Soy sauce
    • Sesame oil
    • Chili flakes
    • Fresh herbs

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Tuna

  • Pat the tuna dry with paper towels
  • Season generously with salt and pepper
  • Optional: lightly coat with sesame seeds for added texture

Step 2: Prepare the Avocado

You can choose your preferred style:

Option 1: Avocado slices

  • Slice thinly and drizzle with lime juice

Option 2: Avocado salsa

  • Dice avocado
  • Mix with:
    • Lime juice
    • Salt
    • Optional diced onion or chili

Option 3: Avocado mash

  • Mash avocado with lime juice and seasoning for a creamy base

Step 3: Heat the Pan

  • Heat your pan over high heat
  • Add oil and let it shimmer
  • The pan must be very hot before adding tuna

Step 4: Sear the Tuna

  • Place tuna in the pan
  • Sear for:
    • 1–2 minutes per side for rare
    • 2–3 minutes per side for medium

Step 5: Rest and Slice

  • Remove tuna from heat
  • Let it rest for 2–3 minutes
  • Slice thinly against the grain

Step 6: Plate the Dish
